Daily Power #202
Daily Power #202
You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. (Heb. 10:36)
For years our family has gone to the lake with close friends. About a half mile from the house, there is what must be one of the steepest climbs in Oklahoma. This road has an incline that feels as steep as the highest level on the treadmill at the gym.
Every time we get about half an hour into the climb, several walkers always begin to talk about quitting. Every step is painful. Looking up, it seems like we will never reach the top. Step after step, the climb feels impossible to finish.
About that time, inevitably someone turns around and looks back. Wow! Every time it’s shocking just how far we’ve already come. The view is always stunning, and it’s always worth it. The progress we’ve made renews our passion to finish. There may be a long way to go, but we’ve come so far.
If you have been working at something for a long time and don’t feel like you will ever hit your goal, take a moment and pause. Look back. You might have traveled farther than you thought. Take note of all that God has already done. Embrace all the progress you’ve made. And celebrate that God isn’t finished with you yet!
Power Lift
When my day gets steep, Lord, and I want to give up, thank you for giving me a second wind and the power to keep going.
