For Claiming Victory

CHRISTIANITY IS ABOUT LOVE AND FORGIVENESS—but it’s also about a spiritual war. Satan prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to destroy (1 Peter 5:8). The truth is, just as God uses people to bless us, the devil uses people to harm us. Delilah trapped Samson with her deceit, and Jezebel tormented Elijah by instilling fear. The devil also slyly used Peter. But “Jesus turned to Peter and said, ‘Get away from me, Satan! You are a dangerous trap to me’” (Matthew 16:23).

We’re in a spiritual battle with an enemy who doesn’t fight fair. He’ll use your friends, family, coworkers—and yes, even fellow believers. (Church hurt is a real and common thing.) But when you pray, God shows up and takes over. Schemers are outwitted, and accusers are silenced. God blocks every harmful plan. Prayer also opens your eyes—so you can look beyond people and target your real enemy. With the Lord by your side, even your toughest battles are already won.

He will fight for you against your enemies, and he will give you victory!

PRAYERFUL THOUGHTS

Dear Lord,

I bring my challenges before you and plead for your help. I’m facing a battle that I can’t win on my own. But you, O Lord, are my defender—my undefeated champion and friend. You stand before giants, and they quiver at your strength. Rise up, and display your power. Rise up, and bring the devil to shame.

Hurry, my unconquerable defender. Deliver victory without delay.
