Beautiful Word Devotional #47

The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.

Proverbs 4:18

When Peter stood in the boat while Jesus beckoned him to step out onto the wave-chopped water, he could not know whether the water would hold him up. Still, he took one faithful step, then another. Peter chose to trust Jesus’ ability to sustain him in the storm, and Jesus came through (see Matthew 14:22–33).

Life works like that for us as well. Maybe Jesus has been beckoning you toward something new. You cannot see around the bend in the road, but you can experience peace and joy when you take that Peter-like first step. Today’s verse reminds us that as we keep walking on the path of faith, the light by which God guides can become brighter, and we may gain greater understanding.

So be assured that even if the path Jesus takes you on gets scary, he will always be there to illuminate your way—and rescue you if necessary.

Lord, thank you that you are with me when you ask me to take a step of faith. Please help me to have the faith to step into new adventures with you, amen.
