But as for me, I watch in hope for the LORD.

Micah 7:7

Watching involves some waiting, and waiting can imply hoping for a certain outcome. To watch in hope for the Lord, then, is to walk through life, with all its struggles, with an expectation that you will see him act.

During this time of waiting and watching, you may experience times of worry. You may feel like God doesn’t see your plight or hear your pleas. This is normal. God’s plans for you don’t always resolve the moment you want them to or the way you might want or expect.

Remember, though, that great stories take time to unfold. The plots of award-winning movies have conflicts and obstacles, and resolution comes only after strife, maybe some confusion, and the passage of time.

Your story is no different. As God writes your story and the plot presents more problems than possible solutions, it’s time to exercise your trust muscle. Don’t lose hope. Remember that your Father loves you, and believe that he will answer you in his perfect, surprising timing.

Lord, I want to watch for you, to hope for resolution to the plot twists you’re bringing about. Grant me patience as I wait, amen.
