The Advocate

When the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.

Long ago God promised the gift of the Holy Spirit to his people, but the gift was not given until after Jesus’ resurrection and ascension into heaven. Anyone who has received Jesus Christ as their Savior also has the presence of the Holy Spirit in their life. The Holy Spirit helps you understand the deep truths of God, convicts you of sin, teaches you how to live a life that pleases God, helps you pray, enables you to resist temptation, and assures you that you are a child of God. Thank God for giving you his Holy Spirit, and pray expectantly that he will release more and more of the Spirit’s power in your life.
