When Fog Settles In
When Fog Settles In
Have you ever been stuck in the fog? I once took my family on a cruise, where we had a tremendous time making memories, laughing, and eating too much. When it came time to disembark and get back to our real lives, we couldn’t go anywhere. The fog in the harbor was so thick that the port authority closed all traffic going in and out. The delay lasted nearly ten hours, and all we could do was wait it out on the ship.
There are some situations and seasons in our lives that bring a thick fog with them. When it settles in and is so thick that you can’t really progress and aren’t sure which way to go, what do you do? You can take a tip from our time being stuck on the cruise ship and “EAT” all you can. This is an acronym I picked up from a coach I deeply respect:
- Effort: Give your best effort on what you can control.
- Attitude: Have the best attitude you can in spite of the challenging circumstances.
- Technique: Master your technique by putting your head down and making the most of the situation you are in.
Listen to the counsel of the psalmist who found himself in a season of waiting: “Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness. Delight yourself in the LORD; and He will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:3-4, NASB).
When you are stuck waiting, make the most of the situation by cultivating faithfulness. Then you will be prepared when the sun shines through again.
Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness. Delight yourself in the LORD; and He will give you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 37:3-4, NASB
