The Investment Strategy of Kindness

Given the new play-off structure in college football, the Big 12, made up of ten major colleges, wonders each year how not having a championship game affects the possibilities of their teams getting into the play-off bracket. The 2014 Baylor Bears missed out on the brand-new college football play-off because of the lack of a championship game in the Big 12. The conference’s leadership has indicated that they will not change the structure of how they crown a champion. If they continue to miss the play-off bracket, I would assume they may decide a change will be necessary. But to this point, it is fascinating to me when parties become so immovable because they think the way they do things is right.

Are you immovable? Here is another way to ask it: Are you right, or are you right? If you are struggling in a relationship, ask yourself, do I always have to win every argument? Do I always have to be right? You see, you can be right on the issues and all alone, or you can be right relationally and working toward the long haul.

If you have to win every debate, then pride is a major problem in your life. If you are not careful, you might just end up all alone. Look at the words of Proverbs 11:17, which states, “Your kindness will reward you, but your cruelty will destroy you.” If you invest in relationships through kindness, you will have a great return for your life.
