Peace in an Ever-Changing World

Security is more important than ever, so it seems. Entering stadiums has always come with some sort of line and quick bag check. But the policies of the professional sports leagues’ security protocols have created greater restrictions on everyone and what they can bring to the ballpark. My most recent trip to NRG Stadium included a thirty-five-minute wait in line to go through the metal detectors. One of the ladies in line had to return her purse to her car because it was too big. Living at peace in a world that is filled with terror can be a challenge.

From what I can see, the world has always had terrorists—people bent on causing fear and psychological, emotional, and physical harm. Proverbs 26 references an archer who wounds at random, and I imagine had there been firearms in the Bible, the author would have called him a gunman. Terrorists’ ideology is dark and demonic, and there is nothing peaceful about it. But I believe that we can live at peace by being prepared and prayed up.

Peace comes by being prepared. The people of Israel have to fight for peace nearly every day. They do so by being vigilant. They use wisdom, common sense, and technology to assist them in their quest for daily peace.

Peace also comes by being prayed up. In Proverbs 1:33, wisdom invites us to listen and enjoy peace: “All who listen to me will live in peace, untroubled by fear of harm.” Be prepared and prayed up so you can enjoy peace today.
