Magnolia Market and Chick-fil-A

On a holiday trip with my family, I went to the new and improved Magnolia Market in Waco, Texas. It was overflowing with shoppers looking at all the possible decorations for their homes and hoping to have a sighting of Chip and Joanna from the HGTV show Fixer Upper. Chip and Joanna have a strong faith in Christ and seek to honor him through their business and family life.

I love Chick-fil-A chicken, and with three or four Chick-fil-A restaurants in our area, I sit in their drive-through lines more frequently than I care to admit. This restaurant chain, founded by Truett Cathy, has held fast to its conviction of being closed on Sunday so that its employees can enjoy a day of rest and go to church with their families if they so choose. Cathy, a longtime Christian, had an unmistakable faith throughout his professional life.

Walking through the packed market and sitting in the overflowing Chick-fil-A drive-through lines, I have been reminded of the blessing of God on those who are clearly devoted to him.

Psalm 40:5 states, “O LORD my God, you have performed many wonders for us. Your plans for us are too numerous to list. You have no equal. If I tried to recite all your wonderful deeds, I would never come to the end of them.” The psalmist can hardly contain his joy at the work of God on his behalf. When you have experienced it, it is profound and lasting. Show me an organization committed to honoring the Lord, and I will show you various ways that they have been favored by the Lord. Frankly, it is unmistakable!
