From Qb To Professor

From Qb to Professor

Dr. David Klingler is an associate professor of Bible exposition at Dallas Theological Seminary. David has become a good friend of mine over the years, and I admire him for letting God use him to do the very thing he loves most: teaching the Bible.

A former Heisman Trophy candidate and first-round draft pick of the Cincinnati Bengals, Klingler remembers being challenged by his friend and pastor Voddie Baucham Jr. to do more with his life than play football and train horses. Baucham challenged him to go to seminary and be used by God to teach the Bible to others.

Over time and through a series of events, David embraced that challenge. The more he studied, the more he grew to love the Word of God. He earned a master’s in theology and then a doctorate in Old Testament studies. Now not only is he raising two fine young men, but he is also living a life that has exponential impact.

Isn’t it amazing how challenges spoken into our lives at just the right time can plant seeds that come to fruition years later? Romans 8:28 says, “We know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Let’s commit to live out our calling and watch how God can take seeds planted and turn them into fruitful purpose.

We know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
