Being Unshakable in a Shaky World

Have you watched the news lately? Things that were once stable seem to be shaking up. From 9/11 in 2001, to the financial crisis in 2008, to the Arab Spring in 2010, to the recent emergence of ISIS . . . our world seems to be coming unhinged.

How do you parent your children with stability in a world of instability? How do you find certain peace in the midst of an anxious world? Many people turn to the false promise of having more stuff to insulate them from uncertainty. Others turn to substances to help alleviate the anxiety, only getting temporary respite from that which concerns them. But I want to point you to the Scriptures and to Jesus Christ, the only source of true peace.

You see, in Jesus Christ, we have one whom we know will bring stability and an entirely new order of things one day. Our stability today springs from our hope for tomorrow. Revelation 21:3-4 says,

I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”

My friend, in Christ you can find certainty in an uncertain world. He is coming again to bring stability forever, so be sure that you have put your hope in him!
