Don’t be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.

1 Peter 3:3-4

WE LIVE IN A CULTURE that places great importance on beauty and outward appearance. We post photos on social media in the hope that others will view us as flawless, fashionable women who have it all together. But God sees through our appearance and deep into our hearts. He knows that behind every woman’s façade and apparent vanity is a little girl who feels insecure and lonely and longs to be genuinely known and loved. Do you relate to any of these feelings? What might it feel like to live in the truth that the one who created you loves you fully and unconditionally? God is able to heal every insecurity and satisfy every longing. Start by talking to him about where you notice vanity in your life. Ask him to show you what your heart truly longs for when you strive to be beautiful. And trust that he is able to make you into a praiseworthy woman—not because of how you look but because of who you are.
