THERE ARE MANY examples in Scripture where a person’s fervent prayer changed the course of events. God’s sovereignty means that he is all-knowing, has a purpose for everything he does, and is in control. In his sovereignty, God chooses to work through prayer. He wants us to partner with him as he carries out his will here on earth. The Bible promises that God hears each prayer, that our prayers are powerful, and that every prayer matters to him. Through prayer, we are connecting in holy conversation to our Creator, the one true God. This kind of connection is life-changing. As the psalmist said, pray as long as you have breath because the Lord hears and answers prayer.
