Senses

senses - How can I use my five senses to be more aware of God?

When I look at the night sky [I] see the work of your fingers—the moon and the stars you set in place.

Psalm 8:3

“Fill your stomach with this,” he said. And when I ate it, it tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth.

Ezekiel 3:3

We hear songs of praise from the ends of the earth, songs that give glory to the Righteous One!

Isaiah 24:16

Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” And instantly the leprosy disappeared.

Luke 5:13

WHY DID GOD give most of us the ability to see, smell, taste, hear, and touch? Our senses are gifts that help us to experience and enjoy the beauty of God’s creation, to soak in good times with others, and to remember his past goodness. Whenever you feel rushed or are having a hard time being present, stop for a few moments and ask these five questions: What do I see? What do I smell? What do I taste? What do I hear? What kinds of sensations do I feel against my skin? Use your senses to become more aware of God’s world around you. Thank him for the gift of your senses, and use them to make each moment unique and full of meaning.
