Risks
risks - How do I decide when to take a risk and when to play it safe?
Be careful then, dear brothers and sisters. Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God.
Hebrews 3:12
Listen, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD alone. And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.
Deuteronomy 6:4-5
Commit everything you do to the LORD. Trust him, and he will help you.
Psalm 37:5
GOD’S WORD gives clear warnings to guide us away from risky behaviors that could be hurtful and destructive. But God also encourages us to take certain risks that will result in healthy and godly lives. For these things, God’s Word tells us to go ahead and take a chance. God might say, “Go ahead. Start a conversation with that person, take that mission trip, accept that job, help that friend, take on that challenge.” But before you do, ask yourself, Does what I think God is saying align with his Word? and Is my motive behind this risk to serve God or serve myself? Taking the risks that help you grow in your faith and avoiding risks that will harm your relationship with God will turn your life into a healthy and exciting adventure.
