Restoration
restoration - How does God restore me to himself after I have sinned?
“My wayward children,” says the LORD, “come back to me, and I will heal your wayward hearts.”
Jeremiah 3:22
You will have compassion on us. You will trample our sins under your feet and throw them into the depths of the ocean!
Micah 7:19
Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool.
Isaiah 1:18
I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins.
Hebrews 8:12
WHEN WE HURT SOMEONE, it often takes time to restore the relationship. Sometimes others hold grudges, frequently bring up past offenses, or refuse to forgive us. This is not how God responds when we confess our sins and ask for his forgiveness. His Word gives many different images for what happens when he forgives: He tramples our sin under his feet, he throws it into the ocean depths, he removes the stain of our sin, and he never remembers it again. His forgiveness means he has restored our relationship as though we had never sinned. What a gracious and merciful God! Do you long to experience a restored relationship with God? All you need to do is ask. He is always eager to bring you back to him.
