Quitting

quitting - How do I know when to keep going and when it’s time to quit?

David continued, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Don’t be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you.”

1 Chronicles 28:20

We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. . . . We know that God, who raised the Lord Jesus, will also raise us with Jesus and present us to himself together with you. . . . That is why we never give up.

2 Corinthians 4:8, 14, 16

Let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.

Galatians 6:9

NO ONE WANTS to be a quitter. However, there are times when it’s appropriate to let go and times when we should keep going—and it is wise to know the difference. It is time to quit when we are doing something wrong or are hurting ourselves or others. Even if our behavior is not inherently wrong, if an activity takes too much time and attention away from God and others, then we need to let it go. However, if God has called us to a task, we shouldn’t give up when it gets difficult. Just because God asks us to do something doesn’t mean it will be easy. If your task is focused on and for God and you know that he is taking you in a certain direction, don’t give up when it gets tough. Keep moving forward with faith.
