Moses said to the LORD, “You have been telling me, ‘Take these people up to the Promised Land.’ But you haven’t told me whom you will send with me. You have told me, ‘I know you by name, and I look favorably on you.’ If it is true that you look favorably on me, let me know your ways so I may understand you more fully and continue to enjoy your favor. And remember that this nation is your very own people.” The LORD replied, “I will personally go with you, Moses, and I will give you rest—everything will be fine for you.”

BEFORE THE EXODUS, God revealed a plan to Moses without explaining how it would unfold. Moses knew what God had promised, but he became concerned when he didn’t know the details of how those promises would be fulfilled. Despite Moses’ impatience, God was patient, reminding Moses that he was with him and that what he had promised would happen. God doesn’t always yield all of the details of how a plan will play out, but he gives us an even better answer: “Don’t worry about the details. I am with you and will help you.” If you are questioning God’s actions, perhaps it is time for an honest conversation with him. Bringing tough questions to God in prayer actually draws us closer to him. God invites your honesty and heartfelt questions; he will not rebuke you for asking.
