Peace

peace - How can I have peace in a world that is anything but peaceful?

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!

Isaiah 26:3

[Jesus said,] “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”

John 14:27

[Jesus said,] “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.”

John 14:1-3

MOST OF US long for peace in our unpredictable lives. Yet no matter how frayed our nerves are or how unsettled our hearts feel, God is able to calm us. God’s Word advises us to actively pursue his peace. He promises peace to those who strive to know his Word, follow his commands, trust him at all times, live in harmony with others, and keep their thoughts focused on him. Which of these areas do you need to work on with God’s help? You can’t prevent bad things from invading your life, but you can have peace—a quiet, unshakable confidence. When the world feels scary, remember that God is keeping a safe place for you in heaven. Let that assurance keep you from panicking in today’s storms. God is with you, and the outcome is certain.
