The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known.

Ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature.

O LORD, what a variety of things you have made! In wisdom you have made them all. The earth is full of your creatures.

Psalm 104:24

ALTHOUGH SCRIPTURE—God’s story in written form—is the best way to understand who God is, he has provided another way for people to begin to know him: through his creation. God intended his creation to bring him glory and to point people to himself. The breadth of creation makes us feel small, reminding us of God’s majesty and eternal power. And yet the small, intricate details assure us of his tender and personal care. Scripture makes clear that he alone is the reason that the universe holds together. When you feel disconnected from God, take a walk outside, look at the vastness of the sky or the small intricacies of a flower, and reflect on how much nature reveals about your Creator.
