[Jesus said,] “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat. But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. So when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen your brothers.”

Luke 22:31-32

Jesus said, “Peter, let me tell you something. Before the rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will deny three times that you even know me.”

Luke 22:34

We know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

Romans 8:28

KNOWING that Simon Peter was heading for disaster, Jesus prayed for him, making two requests of his heavenly Father: first, that Peter’s mistakes would not cause him to lose his faith, and second, that Peter would eventually use the lessons he had learned from his error to strengthen others spiritually. Eventually, both of these prayers were answered, and Peter went on to become the leader of the first church in Jerusalem and an encourager of those who were suffering for their faith. Mistakes are part of being human. However, we must decide to learn and grow from our mistakes instead of repeating them. God’s heart for us is that we will remain teachable and teach others. Remember that God can use your worst failures to strengthen your faith and enable you to better comfort and help those around you.
