money - Why can’t money buy happiness? Sometimes I feel like I would be happier if I didn’t need to worry about money.

Those who love money will never have enough. How meaningless to think that wealth brings true happiness!

Ecclesiastes 5:10

Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.

Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”

Hebrews 13:5

IT IS TEMPTING to believe that money has the power to fix all our problems. Money can cultivate a dangerous craving—the more we have, the more we want. So how can we live with the tension of needing money to live, yet not depending on it for our happiness? First, we need to remember that money itself is not evil; however, the love of money is! Our souls were made for relationship with God, and because of that, he is the only one who can truly satisfy us. If we had all the money in the world yet lacked a relationship with God, something would still be missing. When you notice yourself fixating on finances, desiring more things, or trusting in the next paycheck or big break, bring your thoughts back to God. Strive to know him more and he will become the greatest love of your heart.
