Letting Go
letting go - How can I do better at letting go of certain things and trusting God with them?
Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this world will keep it for eternity.
John 12:25
If you cling to your life, you will lose it, and if you let your life go, you will save it.
Luke 17:33
My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Galatians 2:20
THE THINGS we hold most dear are the hardest to trust God with. God warns us that when we cling to our lives, we will lose them. But if we let our lives go, they will be saved. What does this actually mean? We must let go of one thing before we can grasp something else. Not only does letting go of our lives help build our trust in God, but eventually it also results in true freedom. We are free when we no longer need anyone or anything besides God for our fulfillment, satisfaction, and identity. Is there something in your life you need to release your grip from? The hard choice to “let go” is one you will need to make over and over, but it becomes easier as you find God to be faithful each time. Ask God to help you recognize the things you are clinging to too tightly and rebuild your trust in him alone.
