Intimacy

intimacy - What does intimacy with God look like?

The LORD is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him in truth.

Psalm 145:18

Come close to God, and God will come close to you.

James 4:8

O LORD, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do.

Psalm 139:1-3

SOME OF US have experienced the joy of being in an intimate relationship with another person. But no matter how deep we go with a friend, family member, or husband, that intimacy is nothing compared to intimacy with God. God knows every thought we have, every action we take, and every motive behind our actions. And the best part about God is that even though he knows us this intimately, he still loves us. We don’t need to change any part of ourselves for God to love us more. All he wants is for us to come to him with our sin, accept his forgiveness, and experience abundant life with him. Practically, this means accepting that he intimately knows us and loves us, learning about him though his Word, and inviting him into every part of our lives through prayer. Take comfort that true intimacy awaits those who strive to live close to him.
