Humility

humility - What is the difference between humility and low self-esteem?

Those who are left will be the lowly and humble, for it is they who trust in the name of the LORD.

Zephaniah 3:12

I recognize my rebellion; it haunts me day and night. Against you, and you alone, have I sinned; I have done what is evil in your sight. You will be proved right in what you say, and your judgment against me is just.

Psalm 51:3-4

The humble will see their God at work and be glad. Let all who seek God’s help be encouraged.

Psalm 69:32

Humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.

1 Peter 5:6

CHRISTIAN HUMILITY is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less,” wrote C. S. Lewis. We often mistake low self-esteem for humility, but humility according to God is much different. True humility begins with knowing who God is and who we are in comparison. It is the antithesis of pride. It is not about seeing ourselves as less, but rather seeing God as so much more. He is in ultimate control of everything, and his plans for our lives are far better than our own. He promises to bless, honor, refresh, lead, and rescue those whose hearts are humble. Ask the Lord to help you think about yourself less so that you may think about him more.
