Honesty
honesty - How honest does God want me to be? How does he feel about little white lies?
All who cheat with dishonest weights and measures are detestable to the LORD your God.
Deuteronomy 25:16
The LORD detests double standards; he is not pleased by dishonest scales.
Proverbs 20:23
If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.
Luke 16:10
Who may climb the mountain of the LORD? Who may stand in his holy place? Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies. They will receive the LORD’s blessing and have a right relationship with God their savior.
Psalm 24:3-5
HONESTY ISN’T only about keeping ourselves from lying. It is about living a truly authentic life—even in the smallest of ways. This means refraining from exaggeration, manipulation, spinning our retelling of events to make ourselves look better, and stretching the truth. It also means keeping promises, speaking the truth in love, and striving to live with integrity. God assures us that those who live in complete honesty have a wonderful future ahead. However, he promises negative consequences for those who fail to be honest. When are you tempted to waver from honesty? Ask God to show you where your speech and actions can be more filled with authenticity and integrity.
