Holy Spirit
Holy Spirit
How does the Holy Spirit help me?
Let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. . . . The Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires.
Galatians 5:16-17
The Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.
Romans 8:26
The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.
Ephesians 1:14
[Jesus said,] “When the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.”
John 14:26
WHEN JESUS ascended into heaven, he promised to leave all believers with a gift: the Holy Spirit as their advocate, helper, source of strength, defender, teacher, and constant companion. Unlike those who lived during Old Testament times, the followers of Christ now had the Holy Spirit indwelling them—and as believers in Christ today, we do too. To really understand the work of the Spirit, we need to read God’s Word. Reflect on God’s promises about the Holy Spirit, invite him to work in your life, and praise God for his gracious gift.
