Holiness

holiness - Holiness feels like an impossible standard. Is it even possible to be holy?

I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable.

Romans 12:1

I am writing . . . to you who have been called by God to be his own holy people. He made you holy by means of Christ Jesus, just as he did for all people everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 1:2

Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.

Ephesians 1:4

HOLINESS IS both a journey and a final destination. To be completely holy is to be sinless, pure, and perfect before God. Of course, no one is perfect here on earth; perfection is our final destination when we stand before God in heaven. But holiness also means being different, “set apart” by God for a specific purpose. We are to be different from the rest of the world, and our lives are journeys toward becoming a little more like Jesus with each passing day. Talk to God when you don’t feel holy. Ask him to change your heart so your thoughts, actions, and motives become more like his. Strive to be holy during your earthly journey, remembering that one day you will stand before God in perfect holiness.
