Helping Others
helping others - How can I best help others with their problems?
This is the message you have heard from the beginning: We should love one another.
1 John 3:11
You have done well to share with me in my present difficulty.
Philippians 4:14
All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When others are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.
Galatians 6:2
WHEN OTHERS are facing problems, we can genuinely love them with our actions, emotions, attitudes, words, and presence. The best way to help others is by being intentional about recognizing their needs and then meeting them! If someone we know is going through a trial, we can ask ourselves, What does this person really need? A meal? An encouraging word? A listening ear? When we serve others this way, we are doing exactly what Jesus would have done—blessing them by meeting a need in their lives. Helping others helps them see Jesus. Pay attention to opportunities to serve those around you. Ask God to help you set aside your own needs, desires, and agenda to instead seek out and meet the needs of others.
