heaven - What will heaven be like?

There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?

John 14:2

We are looking forward to the new heavens and new earth he has promised, a world filled with God’s righteousness.

Look! I am creating new heavens and a new earth, and no one will even think about the old ones anymore.

There will be no night there—no need for lamps or sun—for the Lord God will shine on them. And they will reign forever and ever.

Revelation 22:5

HEAVEN IS not merely an extension of our lives here on earth. It’s a restoration of all that is good and an elimination of all that is wrong with this current world. God promises something new to us and yet very original to him—a world with no sin, sorrow, or pain. We will live in the world we’ve longed for, and it will be everything we have hoped for. God created humans for this earth, so the new earth will have many similarities to this one. However, it will be better and more amazing in every way. You don’t have to worry about sitting around on some cloud and strumming a harp. Eternity will be physical, productive, purposeful, and perfect. You will be in God’s presence and forever filled with joy.
