Heart

heart - How do I protect my heart?

Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

Proverbs 4:23

Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.

Ephesians 3:17

My child, listen and be wise: Keep your heart on the right course.

Proverbs 23:19

Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.

Psalm 51:10

THE BIBLE STATES that the heart is the center of thought and feeling. Every action flows from our hearts; therefore it is important for us to be aware of what we let into them. Practically, this means using caution with what we hear, see, watch on television or other media, and choose to dwell on. When we neglect our hearts, our sin nature quickly moves in to take over. When we fail to protect our hearts, we lose sensitivity to what is good for us and what is harmful. What steps are you taking to guard your heart? Ask God to clean its impurities and help you grow in sensitivity to what kinds of things you allow into it.
