Pharaoh’s heart, however, remained hard. He still refused to listen, just as the Lord had predicted.

Exodus 7:13

Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.

Ephesians 4:31-32

I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.

Ezekiel 36:26

A HARD HEART rejects love from God and others. It refuses to forgive, see the good in life, or recognize blessings from God. An open heart receives love from God and others. It is gracious and forgiving, and asks for God’s help, trusting he will respond at the perfect time. We should ask ourselves, Is my heart becoming more hard and stubborn or more open to God? If you have noticed that your heart has gradually hardened, take time to do the following things: (1) Remind yourself that you are known and loved by your Creator. (2) Start forgiving others even when they don’t deserve it. (3) Remember God’s faithfulness to you in the past. (4) Thank him for what he has done and is doing now, even if you cannot see it. These truths help begin the process of softening your heart. Remember, God is able to change the hardest of hearts; all you need to do is ask.
