Grief

grief - Is there something wrong with me if I’m still feeling sad long after a great loss?

I will never forget this awful time, as I grieve over my loss. Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.

Lamentations 3:20-23

You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.

Psalm 56:8

God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Matthew 5:4

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.

Psalm 34:18

THE GRIEVING process after a significant loss is not swift, nor is it a steady progression. Even after a good week, a good laugh, a theological insight, or a renewal of hope, you most likely will weep again. There is nothing wrong with you; this is part of the process of grieving and healing. The fact that you are still grieving over your loss shows how deeply you allowed yourself to love and be loved. Don’t try to move past your grief too quickly. When it is time, God will begin to create space in your heart so you can embrace the next chapter in your life. Until then, allow yourself the time to grieve, and remember that God is with you, comforting you in your pain.
