Glory
glory - How can I possibly glorify God in my pain?
My life is an example to many, because you have been my strength and protection. That is why I can never stop praising you; I declare your glory all day long.
Psalm 71:7-8
When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.
John 15:8
Jesus looked up to heaven and said, “Father, the hour has come. . . . I brought glory to you here on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. Now, Father, bring me into the glory we shared before the world began.”
John 17:1, 4-5
CHRISTIANS often talk about glorifying God, but what does this actually mean? Glory involves two aspects. First, to glorify or give glory means to demonstrate or represent. Second, it means to reflect or bring something to light. Therefore, to glorify God is to represent Christ and reflect him to others. God uses our circumstances, good and bad, to help us and others grow. It’s easy to be joyful and faithful when life goes well, but when life gets tough, believers have a unique opportunity to show how a relationship with God brings comfort, confidence, and hope. When we glorify God in difficult circumstances, two wonderful things happen: We learn to rely on God’s presence and strength, and others are blessed by seeing our faith and hope in action. God can use anything to make himself known in the world, even the most painful part of our lives.
