Goals

goals - What kinds of goals should I set in order to grow closer to God?

I run with purpose in every step.

1 Corinthians 9:26

Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path. Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil.

Proverbs 4:25-27

We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps.

Proverbs 16:9

I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

Philippians 3:14

GOALS GIVE us direction. Setting a goal gives us purpose and keeps us from straying away from God regardless of what life throws at us. Jesus sought to please and give glory to his Father in everything he did. That goal shaped the way he lived every day and helped him to serve others in every interaction. If you want to set a goal, ask yourself this question: How can I take one step closer to God today? Maybe this means setting aside a certain amount of time to read his Word, praying for the day before you get out of bed, or simply setting an alarm on your phone to remind yourself that God is with you. Start small and work your way up to more challenging goals. Whatever goal you decide to set, remember that even if you don’t reach it every single day, you will still be pointed in the right direction.
