gentleness - What does gentleness accomplish? Won’t everyone walk all over me if I am gentle?

The Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Galatians 5:22-23

You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.

1 Peter 3:4

Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness.

1 Timothy 6:11

God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth.

Matthew 5:5

CULTURE tells us that we as women need to stand up for our rights and be assertive, yet God calls us to gentleness. How do we reconcile the two? Gentleness does not mean that we let others walk all over us. We can be gentle and strong at the same time. God is the perfect example of gentleness, and yet he stands firm for what is good and true. Think of Jesus inviting little children to come to him, celebrating them in the midst of the disciples’ impatience. God greatly values gentleness. It is a fruit of the Spirit and a byproduct of living a godly life. In God’s eyes, gentle people are the most influential in the world because they make an impact without causing conflict. Don’t be afraid of being gentle. Ask God to grow this trait in you, and watch how much more you accomplish through gentleness than through force.
