THE WORLD has taught us that relationships are based on cause and effect. When we do something nice for someone, she will want to spend time with us. If we are good, our parents will be proud. Or the opposite—if we are bad, people will no longer love us. This is not so with God and us. God delights in us simply because of who he is—the one who created us. When you doubt that God wants a friendship with you, take a look in his Word. No matter what you have done, your friendship can be restored through Jesus. If you trust in God, you can be confident that he calls you his friend.
