THE BIBLE has a lot to say about friendship. Perhaps this is because God knows how important it is to walk through life with a good friend by our side. God’s Word describes a good friend as someone who is loving, loyal, helpful, intentional, sympathetic, edifying, and always ready to offer grace. Our friendships with others may go through seasons. At times, being a good friend means gently confronting or challenging each other. Sometimes being a good friend means just sitting in silence with another who is suffering. True friendship strives to love others right where they are. What kind of friend is God calling you to be toward those closest to you? Ask God to give you wisdom and guidance in your friendships. It gives him great pleasure to see you deepen your friendships as you love others well.
