Farewells
farewells - What will help me say good-bye in a healthy and positive way?
When he had finished speaking, he knelt and prayed with them. They all cried as they embraced and kissed him good-bye. They were sad most of all because he had said that they would never see him again.
Acts 20:36-38
I long to see you again, for I remember your tears as we parted. And I will be filled with joy when we are together again.
2 Timothy 1:4
If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me.
Psalm 139:9-10
Be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.
Matthew 28:20
PARTING from those we love is always painful. Before we say good-bye, we can make sure we take time to thank them for what they have meant to us and pray together, thanking God for giving us a special relationship. Whether we are the ones leaving or the ones being left behind, we can remember that God is with us. No matter where we or our loved ones have to go—even across the “farthest oceans”—God’s hand will guide and give strength for the task ahead. There is great comfort in knowing that God will take care of those to whom we say farewell. He promises that one day, when we are with him in eternity, we will never need to say good-bye again.
