Ease
ease - Jesus talked a lot about suffering. Is it okay to live a comfortable, easy life?
The world offers only a craving for physical pleasure . . . and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.
1 John 2:16-17
People who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction.
1 Timothy 6:9
Remember the words of the Lord Jesus: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
Acts 20:35
SOME WOMEN are happy to rough it on a campground, and others are most content in a five-star hotel. Though our levels of comfort may vary, no one wants to be truly uncomfortable. On some level we expect life to be easy. But God’s Word is clear that we will have some suffering in this world. If you are in a season where life is easy, make sure your hope and security lie in God instead of in what this world offers you. Keep an eternal mind-set, remembering to invest what you have received to further the Kingdom of God. To be wise during easy times, do these things: (1) Be generous with others because of how generous God has been with you, and (2) seek God and immerse yourself in his Word. Life will not always be easy, so use God’s Word to prepare yourself for whatever hardships the future holds.
Prayer Prompts
Lord, when I think about the season I am in, I feel . . .
No matter what is happening, your Word encourages me to remember that . . .
