The Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.

SOMETIMES what we need most during seasons of immense sadness is just to know we are not alone. If there is one thread of hope to hold on to in times of despair, it is that God is not absent, and he’s not afraid of our sadness. In fact, he promises to be with us in it. He listens to our prayers even when they feel empty to us. He gives us the support and strength we need to get through each day, and he sends his Spirit to pray for us when we cannot find the words ourselves. If you feel like you are sinking, be encouraged that no matter how low you get, there is no depth to which you can descend where God is not present with you.
