Dependence
dependence - What does it mean to depend on God?
I know the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.
Psalm 16:8
[Jesus said,] “I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:20
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.
James 4:10
Do not be afraid, for I am with you.
Isaiah 43:5
I said to the LORD, “You are my Master! Every good thing I have comes from you.”
Psalm 16:2
O our God, we thank you and praise your glorious name! But who am I, and who are my people, that we could give anything to you? Everything we have has come from you, and we give you only what you first gave us!
1 Chronicles 29:13-14
ONE OF THE MYSTERIES of the Christian faith is that the more we humble ourselves and depend on God, the stronger we become in character and integrity. Depending on God means recognizing him as the source of our strength, our success, and all good things in our lives. If you are in a place where it feels hard or scary to depend on God, remember that everything you have ultimately came from his hand of mercy. Because he created you, he knows you inside and out, and he can be trusted to guide your life.
