THE PURPOSE of a guardrail on a dangerous curve is not to inhibit our freedom to drive but to save our lives! Similarly, God’s Word is the guardrail we need to travel through life—not to restrict us but to help us avoid danger and keep our lives from going out of control. One of the greatest dangers we face is the temptation to do wrong. God’s Word warns us that we must guard our hearts because they are the source of our actions. Guarding our hearts means being extra careful what we allow ourselves to see, hear, and think about. Satan is constantly on the attack, trying to steer us away from God and toward sin. Keep careful watch over what you let into your heart; guard it from danger, and stay focused on the road God has asked you to travel.
