Culture
culture - How can I be a part of today’s culture and still avoid its negative impact?
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Romans 12:2
You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see.
Matthew 5:14-16
Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.
Isaiah 58:10
GOD’S MESSAGE has always been countercultural. If we are truly following Jesus rather than the culture, we will at some point be misunderstood, mocked, and possibly even persecuted. When we decide to stand against certain worldviews, pray for our enemies, or give away our money instead of spending it on ourselves, it will not make any sense by the world’s standards. However, God promises many benefits to those who bravely choose to go against culture to follow Jesus instead. No matter how our society responds to your beliefs or your faith, choose to stand strong. Reflecting on God’s Word will give you strength, perspective, and encouragement to influence your culture instead of allowing your culture to influence you.
