Death

death - Is fearing or thinking about death a bad thing?

Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven. . . . Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.

Colossians 3:1-2

Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul.

Matthew 10:28

Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying.”

John 11:25

He will swallow up death forever! The Sovereign LORD will wipe away all tears. He will remove forever all insults and mockery against his land and people. The LORD has spoken! In that day the people will proclaim, “This is our God! We trusted in him, and he saved us!”

Isaiah 25:8-9

IT’S NATURAL to be afraid of something we have never experienced before. However, if we find ourselves feeling an inordinate fear of death or spending an unreasonable amount of time thinking about it, it may be an indication that we misunderstand heaven and lack trust in God’s promises. God calls us to set our minds on the things of heaven, not on death. Take time to learn what the Bible says about heaven. Read God’s promises about what eternity is like for those who love Jesus. The more you know and trust God, the less fearsome death will be.

Prayer Prompts
