crisis - If I’m obeying God, why am I facing a crisis?

Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and started out. . . . Jesus settled down for a nap. But soon a fierce storm came down on the lake. The boat was filling with water, and they were in real danger. The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and the raging waves. Suddenly the storm stopped and all was calm. Then he asked them, “Where is your faith?”

Luke 8:22-25

Call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory.

Psalm 50:15

I will answer them before they even call to me. While they are still talking about their needs, I will go ahead and answer their prayers!

Isaiah 65:24

THE DISCIPLES were devoted followers of Jesus. They may have thought that being his disciples would exclude them from the trials of life, but that wasn’t the case. However, when a dangerous storm threatened their lives, they knew where to turn for help. The truth is, doing the will of God does not exclude us from this world’s trials. When we experience trouble, we need to call out to Jesus for his care and protection. Like a mother who can hear her child’s cry over the din of a crowd, Jesus hears you. When you call out to God, it is his presence with you that breaks through your fears and calms your heart, even when the storms of life continue to rage around you.
