Creation
creation - How should my faith affect the way I care for creation?
God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.”
Genesis 1:26
When you are attacking a town and the war drags on, you must not cut down the trees. . . . Are the trees your enemies, that you should attack them?
Deuteronomy 20:19
God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good! And evening passed and morning came, marking the sixth day.
Genesis 1:31
CARING for creation stands in opposition to today’s consumerism as well as our own selfish desires to live an easy, convenient life. However, God sees all of his creation as good, and he instructs us to be good stewards over it. Caring for the earth challenges us to live within our God-given boundaries by not taking more than we need. It requires us to selflessly love our neighbor as well as future generations by making the earth a better place. It gives us the opportunity to care for something that was meant to glorify God and point people to him. What an amazing way to participate with God in his work! Ask God to open your heart to love and care for creation the way he does.
