Coping

coping - How can I cope when pain becomes overwhelming?

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

Isaiah 41:10

I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.

John 16:33

The LORD is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in him.

Nahum 1:7

GOD IS THE FATHER of compassion and comfort. Just as a mother longs to hold her child who is in pain, so he longs to hold us in the midst of our struggles. We can use our time of suffering to draw near to him. We can open his Word, cry out to him in our distress, and remind ourselves of his presence with us. Times of distress tempt us to forget his promises, so we need to remember to hold on to the hope that Jesus gave. He told us we will have sorrows on this earth, but we can face them with courage because he has overcome the world! No matter what your circumstances are, you don’t need to panic, for God will not let you go. Choose to trust in him and experience the comfort of his everlasting promises and his abiding presence.
