RAISING CHILDREN to know and love the Lord is no easy task. The best thing we as mothers can do is help our children know God personally instead of simply knowing things about God. Instead of dragging our children along on our own spiritual journey, we can walk alongside them in theirs and help cultivate their own personal relationship with God. We do this by reading the Word with them, praying with them, and sitting with them in times of celebration and despair. We can ask questions like “Where did you notice God today?” “When do you feel closest to God?” “What do you think God is teaching you?” Teach and train your children’s hearts to be open to God’s love and care so they will know and love a God who sees them as special—special enough to lovingly pursue a personal relationship with them.
