Brokenness

brokenness - My heart is breaking. I’m overwhelmed, and my life is a mess. Is there any hope?

The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.

Psalm 51:17

He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.

Psalm 147:3

God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.

Matthew 5:3

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.

Psalm 34:18

SOMETIMES brokenness is the result of overwhelming circumstances. Other times it is a consequence of our sin. No matter the cause, one thing is certain—brokenness allows us to realize that God’s help is the only way out of our mess. It signifies the breaking of our pride and self-sufficiency. You may feel your situation is too messy for God to handle, but remember that he is not afraid of it. God promises not only to be close to you in your heartache but also to use it for your good. If you have been broken, come to God as a little child, recognizing your neediness and utter dependence on him. It’s when you feel broken that you’re in the perfect position for God to work in your life. Take comfort in his promise to heal the brokenhearted.
